Under the Tuscan Sun

As promised, here are some photos from the mother’s day dinner Annie and I made over the weekend.  In keeping with our Tuscan theme, I used sunflowers and spread them out over the table using bud vases.  Doing flowers this way is a money saver, as a stem (or two) spread throughout several bud vases looks equally elegant but is much cheaper to buy than enough flowers to do a large arrangement.

Had to start the meal with some cheese–triple cream brie and wasabi cheddar, mmmmmmmm…

Caprese salad, made with heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and drizzled with freshly made pesto from Central Market…

Thin slices of Proscuitto di Parma wrapped around melon crescents…

Grilled squash…

Rosemary and roasted garlic smashed yukon golds…

And some cannon balls thrown in for good measure!
